Mission

The Ventura County Sheriff's Department is committed to safeguard the lives and property of residents of Ventura County and respond to public concerns in a manner which promotes neighborhoods free from the fear of crime.

Strategy

The Ventura County Sheriff's strategy for accomplishing this mission is to preserve the peace, prevent crime, apprehend offenders, facilitate problem solving community partnerships, enforce laws, provide secure and humane detention for persons lawfully entrusted to their care and display empathy and respect for the dignity of all individuals.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for investigating crime occurring in the unincorporated areas of Ventura County and in the contract cities of Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, and Thousand Oaks.
